Actress Herlene “Hipon Girl” Budol captured the attention of the beauty pageant community after she made a message addressed to Miss Grand International founder Nawat Itsaragrisil.
Herlene joined the Miss Grand Philippines 2023 but became controversial because of her answer during the pageant’s interview question last June.
In her latest Instagram post, Herlene raised the eyebrows of some netizens after her low-key request to Nawat to crown her.

“Dear Angkol, ako nga pala si Budolerang Hipon. Baka eto na ang best time para sa Pilipinas. Baka naman ako ang matagal mong hinahanap. Promise hinding hindi kita bubudulin,” Herlene said.
“Ako nga pala si Herlene Nicole Budol bente tres anyos at naniniwala sa kasabihan huwag mong subukan tangkain dayain at budulin ang Pilipinas this time, dahil ang lola ko mambabarang ay andyan lamang naka bantay sa likod mo lamang. Chariiizzz!
“Kantahan nalang kita Angkol…Angkol, Angkol i am near, Crown me, Crown me iam here!” she added.
‘Budol’ also means to deceive in Filipino.
Some pageant fans didn’t like what Herlene said, accusing the actress of trying to use her connection to gain an advantage over the other contestants of the pageant.
“The essence of the pageant goes to bin. Hindi na nakakatuwa,” netizen Emerald said.
“Gusto mo pa maging luto ‘yung timpalak,” Mah Del commented.
