Eat Bulaga host Paolo Contis said that he’s not paying attention to their new rivals ‘E.A.T’ and ‘It’s Showtime’.
In an interview with Philippine Entertainment Portal, Paolo said that there’s no point for them to compete with the said two shows, especially E.A.T, which is hosted by former Eat Bulaga hosts.
According to him, having more choices for the televiewers was better.
“Wala namang point na maglaban-laban, di ba? Kasi ang tao, manonood naman yan kung ano ang gusto nilang panoorin. At least ngayon, tatlo na yung choices nila. Ngayon, trabaho namin na mapilit at ma-convince yung tao na kami yung panoorin. At magagawa lang namin yun na ginagawa namin nang tama yung trabaho namin. It will be very very challenging.” said Paolo.
He admitted that trying to match the 44 years legacy of Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon was a big challenge for them.
So instead of thinking about how to surpass them, Paolo said that he’s looking forward to the first monthsary of their show.
“Mahirap tapatan yung 44 years na nakasanayan. Kami bukas, para sa amin celebration. First month namin bukas. Monthsary namin bukas. “ he said.
Paolo considered lasting for one month was already an achievement for them because of the gravity of criticisms they were receiving from the netizens.
“Hindi namin iniisip na first day na ng Showtime sa GTV, ng TVJ sa… ang iniisip namin, nakaisang buwan kami, di ba? Proud kami dun,” he stated.
Eat Bulaga failed to win the social media competition on July 1, only getting a few thousand concurrent viewers compared to their competitor E.A.T which broke a record of having more than 500,000 live viewers, and It’s Showtime which achieved 250,000 viewers.
