Quezon City District 5 Councilor Aiko Melendez received criticisms on social media after she uploaded a video while dancing inside their session hall.
In the video uploaded on Tiktok, Aiko and SK Federation President Julian Trono can be seen dancing ‘Touch my Body’ by Mariah Carey.
The incident happened before the session, but some netizens couldn’t hide their disappointment towards the two public officials for allegedly showing disrespect to the hall.
P3PWD party-list nominee Rowena Guanzon reacted to the video, saying that public officials should be penalized for doing such acts inside the session hall.
“There must a law or rules of the House of Representatives against this,” Guanzon said.
Aiko then explained that they recorded the video ‘before session’ so the actress believed she didn’t do anything disrespectful.
However, several netizens showed the rules at the Quezon City session hall.
One of the rules was avoiding any recording inside the session hall except for permission from the Office of the Vice Mayor.
However, it seems that Quezon City Vice Mayor Gian Sotto let Aiko record inside the session hall.
“Nahuli kami ni Vice Mayor Gian Sotto, huli pero di kulong,” she said.
