Rosanna Roces believes that money is power: “Mahirap mawalan ng pera”

Controversial actress Rosanna Roces was one of the biggest stars during the 1990s and appeared in many films until her career suddenly took a downturn.

While she was famous before, Rosanna didn’t evade the issues during the peak of her career and even lost her popularity because of her controversial statements on national television.

It can be recalled that in 2003, Kapisanan ng mga Broadkaster ng Pilipinas suspended Rosanna, who was hosting Startalk during that time.

She also feuded with celebrities and powerful people, including Dr. Vicki Belo, losing her endorsement with the latter’s company.

In 2004, Rosanna decided to part ways with her former manager Lolit Solis.

While she earned money during her career, the actress admitted in an interview in 2021 that she made wrong financial decisions.

In an interview with Roldan Castro, Rosanna admitted that she realized all her mistakes after losing her career.

“Lahat ng masasamang ugali ko nag-flashback kaya inisip kapag nabigyan ako ng pagkakataon, magdo-double effort ako na i-ayos lahat to,” she said.

The actress said that she changed her ways, became more professional, and now always arrives at meetings earlier than the call time.

Rosanna shared that she worshipped money instead of God during her career.

“Pag ganon na nag-o-overflow (yung pera) tapos hindi mo alam i-handle, naiiba ka talaga ng pera,” the actress said. “Saka ‘yung pinaka-ayaw kong ugali noon, wala akong Diyos, hindi ako nagpapasalamat sa Diyos kaya nakakahiya,”

“Parang ang Diyos ko ay pera.” she added.

She also realized it was hard to live and gain respect without money.

“Mahirap mawalan ng pera sa totoo lang, pera is power. Pag wala kang pera sh-t ka, t-e ka,” she said.

“Kahit matalino ka.. Ang unang-una ngang bibitaw sa’yo ay yung mga kamag-anak mo, ‘yung mga natulungan mo.. Akala mo tutulungan ka nila? No.

“Kaya dapat maawa ka sa sarili mo, gumawa ka ng pera dahil pera is dignity, trabaho is dignity.. Pag wala ka pareho niyan kawawa ka.
