A student who suffers from asthma expressed his frustration after one of his teachers didn’t consider his condition as an excuse for him to be temporarily excused from the exam.
In his Facebook post, Joshua Ligeralde shared his discussion with the said teacher who called him ‘overreacting’ for skipping the exam due to asthma.
“Ma’am, sorry po kasi di ako makapag exam kasi 1 week na po akong inaasthma baka magpa admit na din po ako kasi nahihirapan na talaga ako huminga,” Ligeralde told his teacher.
“Ang oa mo, asthma lang naman yan. Wag kana mag take ng exam,” the teacher responded.
According to Ligeralde, he would never forget the said incident with the teacher he refused to named.
“Di ko talaga makakalimutan tong teacher na to, may asthma ako since birth kahit minsan di ako sumali sa sports kasi dahil jan tapos ganto sinasabi sakin kahit nag bigay na si mama ng excuse letter kasi isang linggo na akong hinihika at di makatulog ng maayos. Pinahiya ako sa buong klase HAHAHAHAHA,” he wrote.
In his comment, Ligeralde clarified that another teacher defended him and gave him a chance to take the exam.
“BUTI NALANG UNG REAL PROF NAMIN PINAGTANGGOL AKO SA SUBSTITUTE TEACHER NA YON TSAKA NAKAPAG TAKE NAMAN AKO BINIGYAN AKO NG CHANCE NUNG PROF TSAKA PASADO NAMAN. I DON’T WANT TO MENTION THE SCHOOL OR TEACHER KASI MAGANDA NAMAN TLGA UNG SCHOOL IT’S JUST MAY ISANG TEACHER LANG TLGA NA KAGAYA NYA ANG GANUN SA STUDENT.” he said.
Some netizens urged Ligeralde to file a formal complaint and make the said teacher responsible for her actions.
We are trying to ask the Department of Education (DepEd) for some comments.
