Rosanna Roces and Gwen Garci filed charges against an alleged conman who convinced them to invest in exchange for good profits.
The authorities caught Edward Diokno Eje, who allegedly introduced himself to the celebrities as Undersecretary in the Office of the Executive Secretary.
Eje also allegedly pretended to be close to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
According to the two celebrities, they were victimized by Eje’s “Transaction For Government Modus.”
Garci said that she invested 1-M to Eje, while Roces shared that she lost P2.1-M after being lured by the suspect to a specific business.
Roces and Garci only got a few payments from Eje before it went hiding.
The suspect was also behind the ‘position for sale’ modus that victimized several individuals who were promised a role in the government in exchange for money.
He allegedly took billions of pesos from his victims after he promised the following position: Ambassadorial post to the Netherlands; Transportation Assistant Secretary, Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority board member; Clark International Airport Corporation president and chief executive officer, Early Childhood Care and Development Council executive director and vice chairperson, Clark Development Corp. director and Port of Batangas manager.
Eje might face a multi-billion estafa case that might put him behind bars without bail.
