In an interview with Philippine Entertainment Portal (Pep), Lapid said that despite being a senator, some people still belittled him because of his educational background.

It can be recalled that Lapid didn’t finish college because he decided to pursue his career as an actor.

According to him, he accepted that he didn’t finish college because he came from a low-income family and had no choice but to work after finishing high school.

He believed that people still making fun of his educational background were only jealous because he had achieved so much in life.

Kasi, mahal ako ng Panginoon,” he said.

Lapid started his showbiz career as a stuntman, and during the 1970s, he began to rise to stardom.

He first attempted to enter the world of politics in 1992 and ran as Vice Governor of Pampanga but lost to his opponent.

He then ran in 1995 as Governor of the same province and won, and in 2004 became a senator.

Experts believed that the popularity of Lapid in showbusiness made him a successful politician, but some people still thought he was incompetent to become a lawmaker.
