Netizen on Sen. Hontiveros statement: “Ilagay nyo nga ang babaeng ito sa check point!”

A netizen slammed Senator Risa Hontiveros after the latter criticized the move of the cops who got involved in an altercation with a retired member of the Philippine Army in Quezon City last Tuesday.

On April 21, Coporal Winston Ragos, 34, who’s according to his relatives was a Marawi Hero lost his life after his encounter with the members of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Hontiveros is one of the politicians who rode the issue, urging the Commission on Human Rights and the PNP to investigate the incident.

“There is NEVER an excuse for brutality and violence, especially towards persons with mental illness and the powerless,” Hontiveros stated.

One netizen, Noel Landero Sarifa said that Hontiveros should be put in a community quarantine checkpoint so she could understand the dangers of being a cop frontliner amid the COVID-19 crisis.

Sarifa suggested that Hontiveros should not be given any self-defense weapon if ever that she agree to man the checkpoints.

“Ilagay nyo nga ang babaeng ito sa check point, paligiran nyo nga mentally challenged na mga street dwellers at wag nyong bigyan na kahit anong pangself defense. It is very easy for you to say when your life is not put in danger, let’s literally put her in that situation and see if she would still have the same statement,” Sarifa said.

He also questioned Hontiveros why she didn’t released a statement when soldiers were being ambushed by the rebels if she really care about the welfare of the members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

Bakit hindi mo tinawag ang CHR nung pinatay ang mga sundalo natin ng mga rebelde?” he asked.

The post of Sarifa already reached 800 shares as of writing.

Meanwhile, AFP Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Edgard Arevalo said the said incident should not become a reason to cause hostility between them and PNP.

“AFP Chief Gen. Felimon Santos, Jr. calls for sobriety. Let us not exacerbate the situation,” Arevalo said.
