In a press conference, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said that there’s still a way for the KAPA members to recover their money by filing a case against Pastor Joel Apolinario and other leaders of the religious group.

According to Panelo, filing a suit against KAPA is the only way for their members to recover the money they invested.

“They should. They should in order to recover [their investments],” Panelo said.

“And so that you will put behind bars those people who have been swindling them,” he added.

Panelo also explained that the people who continued their support to KAPA are the members who already claimed their payout before the issue started.

However, the closure of KAPA should still happen to prevent more people from getting victimized.

“Ang…supportive ‘yung mga nakakuha na ng pera, ‘yung mga nauna. They were able to get that. Hindi nila alam, that was a trap,” he said.

On Monday, the Securities and Exchange Commission announced that they already froze the assets and bank accounts owned by KAPA.

Authorities also confiscated paper bills from their raid in different offices of KAPA.

Meanwhile, SEC Chairman Emilio Aquino declared KAPA as the biggest investment scam in recent history, luring 5 million members.

According to some members of KAPA, they need to donate a minimum amount of P10,000 in exchange of 30% monthly interest.

However, experts doubt that KAPA can sustain having 15-B pesos a month to pay all of their members who invested in their religious group.
