The Queen of Bangsamoro Pop Shaira made a decree to her fans to stop criticizing the Australian singer ‘Lenka’ amid the copyright issue she was facing.

It can be recalled that Shaira’s viral song, “Selos,” was removed from online platforms due to its similarities to the melody of Lenka’s “Trouble is a Friend,”

The removal prompted fans of Shaira to swarm Lenka’s social media pages.

Shaira revealed that Lenka’s camp approached them in a good way and already exploring ways to fix the issue.

“Nais ko din pong ipaalam na naging maayos ang approach sa amin ng kampo ni Lenka, Mabuti at maayos silang kausap. At nakikita namin na ginagawa lamang nila kung ano yung tama at naaayon sa batas. Sana po ay matigil na ang mga pambabash or pag spread ng hate speech laban sa kanila bagkus ay ipakita po natin na tayo ay Peace Loving Citizen,” she stated.

The issue sparked a discussion on copyright; some producers believed that Shaira didn’t infringe Trouble is a Friend, while some believed it was still the Bangsamoro artist’s responsibility to inform Lenka about her song.

Several netizens reacted to Joey’s post and praised Eat Bulaga’s survivality.

“It’s more than just a show – EAT BULAGA is legendary! With its entertaining segments and long-standing history, it’s no wonder why it has captured the hearts of audiences for decades,” netizen @belroc23 said.

“Walang sinabi si Johnnie Walkker sa inyo..siya keep on walking lang kayo keep on running,” netizen @ronwazowski remarked.

It can be recalled that GMA and ABS-CBN made one of the biggest deals in the history of the television industry.

Starting on April 6, It’s Showtime will be aired on GMA Network replacing the short-lived Tahanang Pinakasamasaya produced by Television and Production Exponents Inc. (TAPE Inc.)

Unlike its block time agreement with TAPE Inc, ABS-CBN and GMA will co-produce It’s Showtime.

A music producer believed that Shaira Moro didn’t infringe any copyright amid the issue received by her song ‘Selos.’

It can be recalled that several netizens informed Australian singer Lenka about Shaira’s song, saying that “Selos” has the same melody as her song “Trouble is a Friend,”

As a response, Shaira’s management voluntarily removed Selos from online platforms.

DJ JNL believed that Shaira’s Selos didn’t use original samples from Lenka’s song.

“Shaira’s version doesn’t breach copyright from sampling since she didn’t use original samples from Lenka’s “Trouble is a Friend”. Oh really, why?” JNL wrote. “The melody is resampled, making it a “cover”, a technique commonly used by renowned figures like David Guetta and Tiesto. That’s why you often hear new songs revitalizing old tunes, such as David Guetta’s “Blue” or Flo Rida’s “Sugar”, originally by Eiffel 65,”

“However, the original artist may take action if the cover artist didn’t pay a “mechanical license” to cover the original song,” he added.

The case was different when it came to popular DJ, Kuya Magik and Carlos Agassi, saying that the two used master samples from original tracks.

“What you should be looking at is Kuya Magik’s Sped Up Remixes or Carlos Agassi’s instrumentals in his songs, as they used master samples from original tracks. Keep in mind, you must secure master rights to use these samples before releasing them as your own,” he stated.

Actress Sarah Lahbati’s mother, Esther Lahbati, had received criticism on social media after she recorded herself while preparing lunch for her drivers.

In her Instagram post last March 9, Sarah happily shared how she personally cooked food for her drivers.

“#Our lunch for today tinolang manok with papaya, lemon grass, luya, onion and garlic plus sautéd bunga ng malunggay at dahon ng malunggay healhty living galing ang gulay sa bakuran ni alıng Esther,” she wrote.

However, instead of receiving praise from the netizens, she received negative comments for not serving the food for her workers on a plate.

Fortunately, some fans of Esther defended her, saying that people should not judge Sarah’s mother.

“Wala akong nakitang mali sa pinaglagyan ng ulam at kanin. My understanding is maybe yung driver nila doon kakain sa driver’s quarter niya kaya pinag sandok. Sino bang hindi nagrerecycle or reuse ng any plastic container? I believe we all do. Ang importante malinis yung lalagyan and most of all yung acts of generosity. Anyways, parang ang sarap ng niluto niyo esp yung bunga ng malunggay. Kudos!” netizen @pjbriagas said.

“Dito nga sa US usually puro disposables ang ginagamit .. walang masama, importante May healthy food na kakainin.. be happy,” netizen gemfma remarked.

Shaira, nahaharap nanaman sa bagong copyright issue

The ‘Queen of Bangsamoro pop’ Shaira Moro was facing another copyright issue for her other song ‘Forever Single.’

Several X users noticed that another popular song made by Shaira was copied from the Indonesian Band Papinka’s song, “Masih Mencintainya.”

According to them, the composer of “Forever Single,” didn’t even try to ask for permission before using the sample of the song.

Some of them also criticized the lyrics of the song, which, according to them, created a stigma for people who refused to be married in their late 20s.

“The lyrics may be light-hearted but the message is yuck and outdated. It implies that singleness is a curse. My more broad-minded friends, both single and married, will surely object,” a netizen said.

“Wow the lyrics are even off. Yun na yun? Definition natin sa isang pagkatao magjowa before 30 or magsisisi ka?” another netizen commented.

However, some fans reminded the critics that Shaira’s local fanbase was located in the Bangsamoro region where the culture was different.

It can be recalled that Shaira was facing copyright issues after her song “Selos,” was noticed by netizens as almost the same with Australian singer Lenka’s “Trouble is a Friend,”

A public school teacher in Aringay, La Union was facing a possible cancellation of her teaching license after she was caught doing a bizarre act with one of her students inside their classroom.

According to the report, the teacher’s family noticed that she had yet to come home and was not responding to their text messages, which prompted them to rush to the school where she was teaching.

When they arrived, they were dazed by the act they witnessed as they saw the teacher and her student without any clothes inside the classroom.

The husband of the teacher then called the authorities to file charges against his wife and his student-lover.

As of writing, the Department of Education (DepEd) has yet to give any statement on the incident, but many people believed that the teaching career of the teacher was over.

The same teacher also received a complaint last January for badly treating one of her students.

Claudine Barretto answered the allegations that she was the one who prevented Jodi Sta. Maria from attending the birthday party of former Star Magic manager, Johnny “Mr. M” Manahan.

In an interview, Claudine said she was unaware that Jodi also received an invitation from Mr. M.

According to Claudine, it was also Jodi’s right to celebrate Mr. M’s birthday as the latter also received mentorship from the showbiz icon.

“Kasi ano po, she has as much right to be there as I am… as I should be there. So, hindi po totoo yun. Wala po akong ganung power para gawin yun. Hindi talaga,” she said.

The rumors started to circulate when talent manager Ogie Diaz claimed that Jodi’s invitation was canceled due to the closeness of Claudine and Mr. M.

“Ang nakarating sa akin kinansel, dinis-invite. Inimbita pero kinansel kasi raw mas pinaboran ‘yung presensya ni Claudine Barretto who happens to be one of the pioneer at anak-anakan ni Mr. M para raw hindi na mag-clash doon sa loob (venue) kasi nga may issue sila, di ba?” Ogie said.

It can be recalled that Jodi was in a relationship with Raymart Santiago, who’s Claudine’s former husband.

Claudine even took a swipe against Jodi, calling the latter as ‘bad influence’.

Ongoing yung annulment namin, pero delay nang delay yung deadline ni Raymart for support, and he’s trying to get custody. Sixteen years old na si Santino, 19 na si Sabina. And hindi ko alam kung bakit gusto niya ng custody,” said Claudine.

Dati oo, meron.

The fans of the ‘Queen of Bangsamoro Pop,’ Shaira Moro, couldn’t express their disappointment after Australian singer Lenka claimed her copyright on the viral Filipino song “Selos.”

It can be recalled that Lenka received different messages from the netizens. Still, most of their comments were about Shaira’s Selos, which is very similar to the international artist’s song, “Trouble is a Friend.”

Lenka already said that they have already taken action about the possible copyright infringement committed by Shaira, but some fans of the latter believed that the Australian singer must instead be thankful for the popularity she got because of Selos.

“Hi, you should be thankful to Shaira because your song is trending now. Tbh, I don’t even know that you are singer,” a netizen said.

“Hi Lenka! Because of that song a lot people now recognizes you. I hope you won’t take it in a bad way,” another netizen told the singer.

It can be recalled that Shaira’s Selos was already removed from online platforms while they were trying to fix the issue.

Some netizens also believe that good communication between Shaira’s management and Lenke would quickly fix the misunderstanding between the two camps.

Meanwhile, Shaira was still continuing creating new songs, but some netizens advised the singer to create her own songs and melodies to avoid another copyright issue to happen.

Sen.

Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa expressed his disappointment after his colleague, Senator Raffy Tulfo, left during a Senate investigation on March 19, 2024.

Tulfo left the hearing when several police officers didn’t give consistent answers to him.

He even said that the officers were not being grilled enough under Dela Rosa’s hearing.

“Mr. Chair, aalis na lang ako rito. Hindi ko matiis, nakikita ko na parang itong mga pulis, pinagloloko…I’m sorry, I have to walk out hindi ko kaya ito,” Tulfo said.

“Sorry po, dun pa lang nagkaroon ng inconsistencies. Parang nabe-baby ito eh. The way I look at it, parang na ba-baby na naman ito,” he added.

Dela Rosa, who’s heading the investigation on the disappearance of beauty queen Catherine Camilon, said that he felt disrespected when Tulfo left.

“The most insulting action is for that kasama mo dito magwo-walk out, wo-walk-outan ka,” he stated.

“The worst thing na sabihin sa akin bene-beybi ko kayo at hindi ko matangap-tanggap ‘yan na beneybeybi. What’s the use of me being the chairman of this committee kung ibe-baby ko kayo?” he added.

After the hearing, Dela Rosa told the press that he already talked to Tulfo privately to apologize.
