Chess champion forces to sleep at the airport for three days while waiting for ticket from the government

The online community erupted in celebration as chess prodigy Bince Rafael Operiano emerged victorious at the 6th Eastern Asia Youth Chess Championship held in Thailand.

However, beneath the surface of this remarkable achievement lies a tale of perseverance and struggle that many were unaware of. It was a journey marked by hardships that Bince endured even before he set foot in Thailand to compete against 20 other talented players from various countries.

Albay 3rd District Representative Fernando Cabredo took to Facebook to shed light on the challenges faced by the nine-year-old Bince. He revealed that due to uncertainties surrounding his plane ticket, the young prodigy was forced to spend three days sleeping at Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

Finally, when the ticket did arrive, Bince embarked on the journey to Thailand alone, spending the initial day of the competition without the presence of his father.

Due to limited funds and while waiting for the plane ticket sponsored by the Philippine Sports Commission, Bince and his father spent three nights at the airport with those benches as their bed,” Cabredo stated. “The little boy had to travel first to Thailand without his father, Mr. Ben Operiano,” Cabrero said.

The absence of his father had a noticeable impact on Bince’s performance during the initial day in Thailand, as he struggled to adjust to traveling without his usual support system.

Fortunately, on the second day, Bince’s father arrived, and with his presence, the young prodigy regained his confidence, ultimately defeating his competitors.

In an interview, Mr. Operiano revealed that he had made the decision to give up his job to support his son’s budding career. However, this sacrifice came with its own set of difficulties, primarily due to financial constraints.

Mr. Operiano further shared that he is actively seeking sponsors to help fulfill Bince’s dreams.

“Even though we face hardships, let us not give up simply because we lack support,” said. Mr. Operiano. “We must gather the courage to persist and support our children’s aspirations in life,”

The Philippine Sports Commission has not provided an explanation as to why it took three days for them to provide Bince with his ticket, nor have they clarified why they did not cover the accommodation expenses for the young chess prodigy during his stay at NAIA while awaiting his departure.

Talent manager and veteran showbiz columnist Lolit Solis went viral last month after she announced her retirement by writing social media columns starting in 2025.

In her last Instagram post, Lolit said she would stop posting social media columns on December 31, stating that she was already mentally tired.

“Mentally tired na ako talaga at parang ayaw ko na talaga muna sagarin ang utak ko at savor my semi retired position. No need to prove anything or be transparent on how I feel. Para ngang kung minsan sawsawera pa ang dating ko,” said Lolit.

However, Lolit started to post again on January 3, 2025 and expressed that she was thankful to the people who became part of her showbiz journey.

She also started to write columns again about celebrities and showbiz issues.

Lolit didn’t explain what pushed her to postpone her retirement.

“I cannot complain or regret anything. GOD is so good, na kahit meron akong mga nagawang kagagahan, tinutulungan parin niya akong bumangon. I have good and reliable friends, very few, pero dependable. Kaya naman laging malakas ang loob ko. Dahil I know people, good people are watching my back. Dalawang senador, suportado ang pagkakaalis ng mag-amang Duterte sa National Security Council

Two senators expressed their support for President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s decision to remove Vice President Sara Duterte and former President Rodrigo Duterte from the National Security Council (NSC).

On January 3, 2025, Marcos Jr. approved the reorganization of the NSC, removing the Vice President and former presidents from the members of the council.

Senators Francis Tolentino and Win Gatchalian both agreed with the decision.

“It’s the prerogative of the President, it’s the discretion of the President because national security definition is not just national security as everybody knows,” said Tolentino.

“It covers foreign relations. It also covers economic, social, security, etc. So he chooses whoever he thinks can give him advice regarding things that require advice, like on foreign policy, legislation, domestic and internal security policy. It’s up to him.” he added.

Meanwhile, Gatchalian said that Marcos’ decision was based on the current situation of the country.

“We know the real situation. What’s important is that current members would be able to give him good advice, and for him to make the right decision for the country. It’s the President’s prerogative after all to choose who he thinks can give him proper advice,” Gatchalian stated.

Malacanang said that they found VP Duterte not relevant to the NSC.

Director Darryl Yap reacted to Arnold Clavio’s negative comments against his movie about the late actress Pepsi Paloma.

In his Facebook post, Arnold expressed his belief that the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) would never approve of Darryl’s project because some parts of the movie may tarnish the reputation of some people mentioned in the story.

MTRCB can prevent any movies or television programs from being released if they find it unfit for public consumption.

“Nagpapa-kontrobersya ang nasa likod ng pelikula at ang pag-iingay na ito ay malinaw na paghingi ng simpatiya… Dahil malabo itong mapayagan ng MTRCB na may hayagang paninirang puri o defamation,” said Arnold.

“Sino ba ang source of information ng eksenang napanood? O ito ba ay bahagi ng isang panaginip ng mga karakter?” he added.

As a response, Darryl told the journalist he had no position to decide for MTRCB.

He also mentioned Arnold’s alleged relationship with Sarah Balabagan when she was still 17 years old.

Darryl then asked Arnold not to lecture him about morality.

“Wag mo kong malecture-lecturan sa moralidad at tama o mali ha— yung ibinibintang sa akin— puro imbento. puro bunganga. yung sa’yo…may bunga,” Darryl said, referring to the rumored child of Arnold with Sarah.

The Communications Director of the Speaker of the House was in hot water after he showed himself while drinking a very expensive champagne cognac.

Ruben Manahan III, Director of the Communications of House Speaker Martin Romualdez, was seen posing while holding a glass of Rémy Martin – Louis XIII Champagne Cognac that was worth P275,000 in the market.

“A truly stunning Cognac from Rémy Martin. It is blended from around 1,200 different eaux-de-vie from the Grande Champagne appellation, and some of the spirit was distilled more than 100 years ago. This is a favourite of Elton John, Christian Dior and even Winston Churchill, who celebrated his election with it in 1951. It was served to Queen Elizabeth II in the Versailles Palace to celebrate her visit of 1957,” according to the description of the cognac.

Some netizens believed that a glass of the said cognac would cost P16,000, which was more expensive than a box of other normal brands in the market.

Meanwhile, they wondered if the photo was taken during work hours, as the official could be seen posing inside an office.

According to the Civil Service Commission, consumption of alcoholic beverages was not allowed in government offices.

As of writing, Manahan has yet to give a response to the criticism he received.

Netizens asked Director Darryl Yap to create a movie about former Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) Sarah Balabagan following the criticism the latter received from veteran journalist Arnold Clavio.

On his Instagram post, Clavio shared the trailer of Yap’s new movie about the late actress Pepsi Paloma, in which the name of veteran comedian Vic Sotto was mentioned.

Clavio said that the director may hide from artistic freedom, but he may still be held accountable by the law.

“Huwag nating kalimutan na ang Chairman at CEO ngayon ng MTRCB ay walang iba kundi si Lala Sotto-Antonio , anak ni Titosen at pamangkin ni Vic,” said Clavio.

“Tandaan , sa mundong ginagalawan natin hindi dapat mawala ang respeto sa kapwa at pagiging disente . May mga norms at ethics na dapat sundan,” he added.

Yap made a two-letter response to Clavio’s statement.

However, some netizens wanted a more extreme response, like making a movie from Clavio’s rumored relationship with Balabagan.

“Paki next po Direk yung kay Sarah Balabagan at anak nila ni Arn Arn,” netizen Jackie said.

“Next Movie: Sarah Balabagan Story: The Deception,” netizen Yoy remarked.

“Wala bang salamin sa bahay ni Arnold Clavio? Nakalimutan na ba nya ginawa Niya Kay Sarah Balabagan na 17 anyos palang?” netizen Manuel commented.

Yari kay Barbie! Ava Mendez admits receiving a hug from Jak Roberto while on elevator

Vivamax star Ava Mendez revealed the personality of Kapuso actor Jak Roberto when he was drinking.

In an interview, Ava talked about the rumors that she had an affair with Jak, who is currently in a relationship with Kapuso actress Barbie Forteza.

Ava said that the photos were taken during their friend’s birthday celebration.

“Kaming dalawa lang ni Jak ang kaibigan niyang artista during that time, kasama ko ‘yung mga kapatid ko, yung secretary ko, yung driver ko. So Gathering, nasa five star hotel kami, doon kami kumain at uminom kasama ‘yung malalapit na kaibigan ng may birthday,” said Ava.

“So ayun, nagkakatuwaan… Si Jak nakainom narin, so nung una may mga lumalapit sa kanya, syempre siya naman hindi siya isnabero, so nakikipag usap siya. Although wala naman akong nakikitang mali doon,” she added.

Because they were the only celebrity guests during the event, they granted the request of every table for a photo opportunity, and Jak accompanied her.

She then disclosed that Jak was becoming ‘touchy’ when he drank too much.

Kasi lasing talaga siya, as in bangag,”

However, she saw nothing wrong with Jak’s gestures.

As of this writing, Jak or Barbie has yet to make any statement after Ava’s revelation.

A video uploaded by Ruffa Gutierrez showed Sunshine’s daughters, Angelina, Sam, and Cheska, having fun at the villa rented by Atong for them.

The Chairman’s Villa could be found at the Solaire Resort.

According to a magazine, the 936 sqm Chairman’s Villa was worth P1,000,000 a night.

However, even if you can afford its nightly rate, you cannot rent it; you need to be considered a resort VVIP.

The luxurious living hall and dining area can accommodate many guests.

The villa offers panoramic views of Manila Bay, and you can unwind in the pool and jacuzzi.

It also offers a 24/7 butler service and a private gym.

The exclusivity of the said villa quickly raised speculations that only Atong could make it possible for Sunshine and her family to stay there.
