According to him, INC could remove the current leadership if they wanted to, but he believed that the religious sect wanted to warn the current administration first by showing force.
“By sheer number alone, the INC can kick out the Marcos Admin if it wants to. They can tell their members to march to Malacanang and give the Marcoses the scariest moments of their lives. But they choose to send a warning first,” said Abines.
“The message is clear. We are big. We are powerful. And we can make things happen just with a snap with our fingers. The greed of Marcoses must be stopped. And the INC is showing the Filipino nations they have what it takes to make things right,” he added.
He even said that he was willing to convert to Iglesia ni Cristo if they would stand against the current administration.
“In all honesty, if INC decides to fight head on with the Marcoses. I might consider converting. With Christ in the very name of their religion, it’s scary to think that the first casualty of Christian movement headed by the Disciples was the Roman Empire,” he stated.
It can be recalled that the rally was organized as an expression of support for the statement made by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. who secretly asked the lawmakers to block any impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte.
