Relatives and friends of Marvil Facturan-Kocjančič, who passed away during her Holiday vacation in Slovenia after an argument with her husband, couldn’t believe what happened to the Filipina.

According to the people who knew Facturan, the suspect, Mitja Kocjančič, was known for being sweet to his wife and even expressing his love to the victim many times on social media.

Factural and Kocjančič met during the vacation of the suspect in the Philippines and declared their relationship last April 2024. Two months later, they were engaged, and two weeks after the proposal, they tied the knot.

“Thank you, God, for the greatest gift in the world. Such happiness wouldn’t be possible without the providence of the Lord who watches over us in Heaven,” Kocjančič wrote after being engaged to Factural.

After being wed, the two visited Slovenia last December for a Christmas holiday vacation.

However, the vacation suddenly became a nightmare after Factural and Kocjančič had an argument, which ended with the suspect ending the life of his wife.

 

Who is Mitja Kocjančič?

According to Slovenian authorities, Mitja Kocjančič is a known motivational speaker who uses his social media presence to inspire others with mental health problems with his words.

He also attended some events to share his past with the youth of Slovenia and encourage them not to be afraid of transforming themselves for the better.

Some of his social media content was about his decision to change himself for the better, claiming that he overcome his past mental health challenges.

After scanning some of his posts, Kocjančič had a troubled history, contributing to the tragic event.

The suspect was now under psychiatric care after the authorities found him showing signs of mental health problems.

Commission on Filipinos Overseas confirmed the incident

On January 10, 2024, The Commission on Filipinos Overseas confirmed the passing of Facturan and sent their condolences to the families and friends of the victim.

The incident sparked discussion on whether the Philippines should start implementing stricter rules for foreigners to marry Filipinas and urged the Commission to prevent the same incident in the future.

“Stricter rules for Filipinas marrying out immediately without a long and exclusive dating history,and mental/psychological health records and police records requirements of foreign spouse should be considered these days,nakikiramay po sa naulilang pamilya,a tragic death of a beautiful soul!Rest in peace kabayan!” netizen Laian said.
