Karl Eldrew Yulo receives criticism for doing ‘Break your wrist’ challenge

Karl Eldrew Yulo, the brother of two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo, was facing criticism on social media after doing the ‘break your wrist’ challenge.

In the video, Karl was doing the steps of the said challenge together with Eliza Yulo and other individuals.

The gymnast received criticism as the said challenge became infamous for making fun of persons with disabilities (PWD).

The challenge involved a dance in which participants bent their arms and wrists. Before the end of the dance, they were required to move improperly, which imitated how some PWD move, especially those with cerebral palsy.

Some netizens couldn’t hide their disappointment as Eldrew was supposed to set a good example.

“As someone na may Autism, this is just sad. I mean he doesn’t know this but the internet remembers and what you do online will be there for all the world to see. I’m putting all blame on the parents of Eldrew Yulo specifically Angelica Yulo,” a netizen said.

“With an attitude like that, I doubt he’s even gonna cut the qualifying rounds. None of our athletes who ever bagged medals (kahit pa bronze yan) had the “ay sus, kaya ko din yan” attitude that Eldrew has. I mean, don’t get me wrong, the ”I can” attitude is important to have for competitions like this, but there’s a thin line between confidence and arrogance. Olympics is more discipline than skill,” another netizen commented.
