Carlos Yulo’s parents were absent during the Heroe’s Welcome, which Malacanang prepared for the two-time Olympic gold medalist.
In a video published by RTVM, Carlos could be seen receiving the P20,000,000 cash incentives from the government and also a presidential medal of merit from President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
While Carlos’ parents were absent, his girlfriend, Chloe San Jose, was there to accompany her boyfriend.
However, some netizens questioned Chloe’s presence during the awarding ceremony, saying Carlos’ parents should have accompanied their son.
It can be recalled that Carlos had a feud with his parents because of money.
In a statement, Carlos clarified that he had already forgiven his parents, but he hinted that he was not yet ready to meet them.
“Nakita ko po sa balita na kino-congratulate niyo ko, kung genuine po talaya kayo ma, maraming maraming salamat po ina-acknowledge ko po ‘yon pagko-congratulate niyo sakin,” he said.
“Pero nagpa-flash back parin po ‘yung mga masasakit niyong sinabi sakin at mga hindi niyo pag wishwell sakin,”
Carlos already refused to talk more about his family issue, saying that he prefered to discuss topics that would celebrate the victory of Filipino athletes last Olympics.
