Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) summoned the people behind the noontime show It’s Showtime, including Vice Ganda and Ion Perez, for the acts done by the two hosts in front of children.
It can be recalled that Ion and Vice went viral on social media and received criticism because of their way of eating the cake they presented to them.
MTRCB called the action done by Ion and Vice ‘alleged indecent’, and they wanted the two to explain why they must not be penalized.
“The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) issued a Notice to Appear and Testify to the Producers of the noontime variety show “It’s Showtime” over complaints concerning scenes that portrayed alleged indecent acts by hosts Vice Ganda and Ion Perez during the variety show’s “Isip Bata” segment which aired last 25 July 2023 on channels GTV and A2Z DZOZ/DZOE 11.” MTRCB wrote.
According to the agency, Ion and Vice possibly violated Section 3 (c) Presidential Decree No. 1986, which prohibits showing ‘immoral, indecent’ acts on television.
As of writing, It’s Showtime has yet to give any statement on the move made by MTRCB against them.
If proven, there’s a possibility that Vice and Ion may be put behind bars and also be required to pay fines.
There’s also a chance that It’s Showtime may be suspended if proven that they have done something against the presidential decree.
Netizens lauded the move by MTRCB.
Several internet celebrities, including Rendon Labador, have already called the attention of MTRCB and urged them to act.
