Aljur Abrenica ended his silence over the decision of the House of Representatives to reject the franchise application of ABS-CBN.
In an interview with Pep.ph, Abrenica admitted that he’s not too much vocal on the issue being faced by ABS-CBN, but clarified that he’s in favor of the franchise renewal.
“Siyempre, that’s my mother network now. Marami rin silang naitulong sa akin. Pero it’s beyond me. Ibig kong sabihin, their fight is their fight,” Abrenica said.
According to him, what happened to ABS-CBN may be a good opportunity to improve the network.
“Matagal na yung nangyayari. I don’t know the details. Ako, bilang isang artista, hindi ko alam. Ang alam ko lang, yung behind camera, so I’m really looking forward,” he said.
“How I see this scenario is the opportunity talaga to cleanse, and the opportunity to get better as a network,” he added.
Abrenica then pointed out that there’s more deeper issue than the franchise of ABS-CBN.
“May mas malalim pa kesa sa ipaglalaban ko sa franchise,” he said.
The actor started as a talent in GMA-7 for 10 years, then he transferred to ABS-CBN in 2016.
He also welcomed the possibility of going back to the Kapuso network.
Abrenica is one of the celebrities who’s not so vocal on social media about the ABS-CBN franchise.
A few days ago, one of former ABS-CBN top talents, Angel Locsin urged celebrities to speak and even called out actors and actresses who kept their silence on the issue.
“Sa mga kasamahan kong artistang di nagsasalita, ano, may career pa ba kayo? Wala na, wala na kayong network kahit magpa-cute kayo d’yan sa Instagram, magsend kayo ng mga sad face, di n’yo nadadamayan ang mga katrabaho n’yo na dahilan kung bakit kayo sumikat,” Locsin said.
