The father of the four-year-old child who passed away after being rammed by an SUV at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 made an appearance before the media to express his sadness over the incident.
In an interview, Danmark Magsongsong said that their family still couldn’t accept what happened to Malia.
“Kaya po ako nag-iibang bansa para po sa kanilang dalawa tapos ganun po mangyayari,” he said.
Magsongsong, an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW), said that he was supposed to end his contract to be with his family.
“Ang sabi niya sa akin, ‘Daddy, ikaw na maghahatid sa school sa akin’, kasi ‘di ko pa nahahatid sa school ‘yan kasi lagi ako nasa ibang bansa, kaya gusto niya maranasan din ‘yun kasi mga classmate niya laging nandun ang daddy nila,” he stated.
He admitted that his wife was unaware of what happened to Malia.
Magsongsong appealed to the government to hold the SUV driver, Leo Gonzales, accountable for what he did.
Gonzales, who was facing multiple charges, insisted that it was not his intention to ram the vehicle.
According to him, he lost control of his vehicle after his attempt to push down the brake pedal, but pressed the accelarator instead.
