It can be recalled that Captain’s Peak Resort in Chocolate Hills received criticisms from netizens and public officials for building an establishment in the UNESCO Heritage Site.

The owner of Captain’s Peak also mentioned the two other resorts built around the area, Sagbayan Peak and Bud Agta.

“Meron pa pong maglala dito,” Captain’s Peak manager Julieta Sablas said. “Hindi ko na i-mention ang resort, pero kayo na ang mag imbestiga,”

However, the management of Sagbayan Peak and Bud Agta denied the accusations, saying that they have proper documents to operate, including an Environmental Compliance Certificate or ECC.

“Siyempre baka pati kami pagdiskitahan. Pero baka hindi rin kasi kumpleto naman kami ng papeles, lalo na yung ECC,” An employee of one of the resorts mentioned by Sablas told ABS-CBN news.

They even showed the documents to the press to prove they were legally operating a business in Chocolate Hills.

Bud Agta also built a billboard to inform the public that they complied with the environmental guidelines.

The government already launched an investigation against the said establishments and may possibly demolish if they were proven not following environmental laws.
