A supposed peaceful Catholic Mass at a State University in Marawi City turned into a nightmare after an explosion.
Several students were confirmed to have perished after an explosion happened during a Catholic mass held at Mindanao State University in Marawi City on December 3, 2023.
According to PRO-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, three attendees were confirmed to have lost their lives during the incident, while seven people were being treated.
Several videos uploaded by local media in Marawi showed the victims being rushed outside the MSU Dimaporo Gymnasium, where the explosion happened.
The authorities were already conducting an investigation to find the cause of the explosion.
Lanao del Sur Governor Mamintal “Bombit” Alonto Adiong, Jr. already ordered the incident investigation.
“I urge the security sector to get to the bottom of this IMMEDIATELY!” he said.
They’re also trying to know the motive of the possible perpetrators.
