Supreme Court confirms that viral ex-cop Willie Gonzales is one of their employees

The Supreme Court of the Philippines confirmed that Willie Gonzales, the former cop who went viral after his confrontation with a cyclist was their employee.

In a statement released by the highest court, they confirmed that Gonzales was a ‘co-terminus’ staff of Associate Justice Ricardo Rosario.

However, when the incident went viral on social media, Rosario quickly removed Gonzales.

“This is to notify the public that Mr. Wilfredo Gonzales was a coterminous employee of the Office of Associate Justice Ricardo R. Rosario. His employment was immediately terminated on August 27, 2023, upon discovery of the incident,” the SC said in a statement.

“Justice Rosario does not condone any form of violence or abusive behavior,” they added.

It can be recalled that Gonzales was suspected to be one of the employees of the Department of Justice (DOJ), but Sec. Boying Remulla denied the rumors.

Meanwhile, there was a possibility that Gonzales would not be charged for the incident as the cyclist already said that they already settled his issues with the former cop.

“Wala pong money involved dyan dahil di mababayaran ng kahit anong bagay o pera yung stress na dinulot nyan sa akin sa pamilya ko lalo na sa mga anak ko di ako natatakot o tinakot man desisyon ko po na di na magsampa ng kaso para sa katahimikan ng pamilya ko at sana igalang po nila ‘yun,” the cyclist stated.
