Hidilyn Diaz, bigong makakuha ng medalya sa Asian Weightlifting Championships

Hidilyn Diaz only placed fourth in the women’s 59kg category of the Asian Weightlifting Championships that was held on Sunday in South Korea.

Diaz failed to surpass the records made by two weightlifters representing China and the bronze medalist from Chinese Taipei.

Luo Shifang and Pei Xinyi of China took gold and silver, successfully lifting a total of 238kg and 236kg.

While Kuo Hsing-Chun who took the bronze medal lifted a total of 230 kg.

Diaz only made a total lift of 221kg during the competition.

Despite the result of Diaz’s bid during the competition, her camp was still confident that the first-ever Filipino Olympic Gold Medalist was still on-track to quality to the Paris Olympic Games.

It can be recalled that she competed in the last Tokyo Olympics in the 55kg class, however, Paris Olympics removed the said weight category and forced her to compete in the heavier 59kg class.

Diaz wanted to give another gold medal to her country, despite the criticisms she received from some netizens because of her complaints about the funding she was receiving from the government.
