Veteran journalist gives his thoughts to Liza Soberano’s commission issue: “Sikat ka nga pero iba ang yumaman!”

Liza Soberano on Monday, finally revealed how much her managers took from her talent fee during her career in the Philippines.

In an interview, the actress gave a breakdown of the commissions being deducted from her earnings by former talent manager Ogie Diaz, ex-road manager Jonilyn Castillo, and Star Magic.

“I started with him [Diaz] at 2012 and then up until year 2015 or 2016 which was when I was seventeen thirty percent po ‘yung commission niya sa akin, my Tita Joni was taking twenty percent and Star Magic was taking ten percent.” said Liza.

“I also pay US taxes alongside my Philippine taxes because I’m a US citizen and a Filipino citizen so my total take home was around thirty percent,” she added.

Veteran journalist Jay Sonza is one of the popular figures who reacted to the revelation of Liza, saying that the actress has been allegedly tricked by her former management.

“SIKAT KA NGA, PERO IBA ANG YUMAMAN SA KINITA MO. Ang nagdudumilat na katotohanan.” Sonza said.

“Base on her recent revelations, and on account of the tax regime applied on taxable income, it would appear that her ACTUAL net income is roughly in the minimum of 28% ONLY.

“Tapos, dito pa kinukuha iyong up keep tulad ng wardrobe, jewelries, hygiene, mobility, iyong lambing o harbat ng mga movie reporters/announcers, bayad sa alalay, make up artist, etc.

“Mula sa gross amount of Contract/Engagement/Shoot or Taping Fees, kukunin ang mga komisyon ng talent manager (30%), guardian/talent scout/road manager (20%) and star magic/abs-cbn talent center (10%), plus other taxes (VAT, Income) and other mandatory & legal deductibles.

“EXPLOITATION BA ANG TAWAG DOON?”
