Zsa Zsa Padilla urges President Duterte to investigate corrupt officials: “Ano na PhilHealth? Ibalik nyo ang pera!”

Actress Zsa Zsa Padilla urged President Rodrigo Duterte to investigate the alleged corruption happening in Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).

In a tweet, Padilla said that the people were working to contribute to the government-owned corporation so they would not worry about the medical expenses.

She then urged the officials of PhilHealth to return the money to the people.

“Para yan sa kalusugan ng taong bayan na pinagtrabahuhan. Ano na, Philhealth?! Ibalik nyo ang pera!!!” said Padilla.

Padilla was hoping that President Duterte would investigate the issue and punish the people responsible.

“Imbestigahan yan ng maiigi at sana ipakita sa atin ng ating Pangulo na talagang maimbestigahan ng maiigi at maipakulong ang mga magnanakaw!!! President Duterte, parang awa nyo na,” she said.

She then gave a comment on Director Dan Villegas tweet, who asked why the ‘internet trolls’ are silent on the issue of PhilHealth while they’re actively talking before about the ABS-CBN franchise.

“Affected kasi lahat. Para lang tayong naghulog sa bulsa ng mga magnanakaw. At pag tayo nagkasakit, waley,” she said.

Several high officials of PhilHealth faced charges because of alleged corruption according to PACC.

“There’s no one big mafia in PhilHealth but rather many groups in regions. It’s like territorial. If you remember the PDAF scam… it’s similar to this. In every region, someone has a territory because the system allows fraudulent claims to exist,” Presidential Anti-Corruption Commissioner Greco Belgica said.

“The bulk of the transactions of PhilHealth happens at the regional level. If you remember, the entire board was fired by the President last August and yet corruption still persisted in PhilHealth…That’s really where the fraud is happening.” he added.

Belgica also cited that P154 billion has been already lost by PhilHealth because of overpayment in 2013.

PhilHealth former anti-fraud officer Thorsson Montes Keith also claimed that P15-B pesos were pocketed by the insurance corporation’s executive committee.

“Naniniwala po ako base sa aking imbestigasyon na ang perang nawaldas at ninakaw ay humigit kumulang P15 billion,” he told Senators.

According to him, the officials wanted to recover the money they corrupted by increasing the contributions of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).
