Bilibid high-profile inmate Jaybee Sebastian cremated quickly after failing to fight COVID-19

One of the high-profile inmates of New Bilibid Prison (NBP) who point out Senator Leila De Lima during the congressional inquiry on the proliferation of illegal drugs in the national penitentiary in 2016 was reportedly passed away due to COVID-19.

Jaybee Sebastian, one of the most popular inmates of the national penitentiary after being featured in a documentary was quickly cremated according to the officials of the Bureau of Correction (BuCor) to follow the COVID-19 protocols.

To prove the authenticity of the news, officials showed a certificate of death registered to Sebastian.

They also showed a photo of Sebastian’s ashes.

His remains were brought to Panteon de Dasmarinas.

Bakante naman ‘yung isang machine namin kaya pinasalang na agad namin ‘yung patay,” the crematorium officer said.

Sebastian was serving two life sentences for committing kidnap-for-ransom and carjacking in 2009.

In 2013 he was featured on Discovery Channel UK’s documentary, showing how the groups detained at NBP had participated in keeping the law and order inside the national penitentiary.

In 2016, Sebastian claimed that he was asked to raise funds for the senatorial campaign of now-detained Senator Leila De Lima.

De Lima denied the accusations of Sebastian, saying that the latter may be an asset of the government.
