President Duterte discourages Mayor Inday Sara to run for President: “Wala kang makuha unless gusto mong mamera”

President Rodrigo Duterte urged Davao City mayor Inday Sara Duterte not to run for the highest position in the country as she’s not going to gain anything from being a chief executive.

During his speech before soldiers in Jolo, Sulu on Tuesday, Duterte said that there’s more job in the country that has a higher salary than being the President.

Susmaryosep,” Duterte said in his speech

“Suweldo mo 194,000. Pero if just a matter of ambition, lay off. Wala ka talagang makuha diyan, pagod lang,” he added.

However, Duterte stated that Inday may run if she felt that she wanted to serve the people without expecting anything in return.

“Unless you are driven by patriotism. Kaya sabi ko sa kanya in English they say, ‘if you cannot stand the heat in the kitchen, get out’,” the President remarked.

In a press briefing, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque clarified that advice of Duterte to Inday Sara.

“There’s no gain to becoming a President unless you’re corrupt. It’s all public service, that’s what he’s saying,” Roque said.

Roque said that the Duterte doesn’t want his daughter to suffer due to the difficulty of being the chief executive.

Talagang it’s a thankless job. It’s all sacrifice, walang return, and ayaw niya na ganyan yung buhay ng kaniyang anak,”

Inday Sara has yet to comment on her father’s advice.
