Journalist claims that he’s being hired as editor-in-chief of ‘Dragon Broadcasting Network’ that rumored to replace ABS-CBN

A journalist who’s being critical to China claimed that a Chinese-owned broadcasting network will replace ABS-CBN.

Waldy Carbonell revealed the information during a live Facebook feed, saying that ‘Dragon Broadcasting Network’ was rumored to take the frequencies of the Kapamilya network after the house of representatives junked its franchise application.

According to him, they’re really planned to close down ABS-CBN to give the frequencies to the Chinese.

Carbonell who’s criticizing China many times and even burned its flag in public said that he’s being hired as the editor-in-chief of Dragon Broadcasting Network.

“Ako po ay kinukuha bilang editor-in-chief ng news department. Mataas pong posisyon yan at aaminin ko, I feel flattered.” Carbonell said.

The journalist said that he’s being invited to join the Chinese-owned company because he’s the most qualified among the journalist that Dragon Network saw.

He also claimed that the people behind the Dragon Broadcasting Network talked to the lawmakers to reject the franchise of ABS-CBN.

Carbonell worked at ABS-CBN and became an Iraq war correspondent.

Netizens and bloggers quickly reacted to the exposé of Carbonell.

“So the latest pasabog is this, a certain Waldy Carbonell, who is known for his anti-China antics, is reportedly recruited by a “China owned” network named “Dragon Broadcasting Network” to be its Editor-in-Chief. Sounds logical,” blogger Sass Rogando Sasot said.

“NBI should conduct an investigation against Waldy Carbonell spreading FAKE NEWS about Dragon Broadcasting Network,” netizen Jean-Paul Elizalde remarked.

A Twitter user also questioned the veracity of the information given by Carbonell.

“If Carbonell’s claims are true, and I am sure he knows that it’s unlawful, why did he not report it to the authorities? Why didn’t he inform Congress during the @ABSCBN franchise deliberations? Why now?” @itsfinetogrieve wrote.

“In sum, until Carbonell provides evidence, his claim can be safely taken for granted. What it tells us, however, is how gullible ABS-CBN’s supporters are, and how desperate ABS-CBN is right now. Sa salitang bakla, ISA ITONG ONE MASSIVE KACHARUTAN!” he also said.

Malacanang has yet to comment on the revelation of the journalist.
