Former Senator Trillanes planning to file cyber libel charges against some supporters of President Duterte in 2022

Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV urged his followers to document any post of the supporters of President Rodrigo Duterte against the critics of the government.

One day after Rappler CEO Maria Ressa got convicted of cyber libel, Trillanes bared his plan to use the same charges against the critics of the people who opposed President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration.

He asked the netizens to provide a screenshot of any libelous so they could file charges against the supporters of Duterte in 2022, which also happen to be the presidential election year.

“Patulong po sa pag save ng mga screenshots ng mga libelous statements ng mga makaduterte laban sa mga oposisyon o kritiko ng duterte administration. Magfa-file po tayo ng cyberlibel sa mga ito sa 2022,” Trillanes who’s a known critic of President Duterte tweeted.

Some of the followers of Trillanes already sent the people they wanted to be punished for cyber libel.

“Unahin na si @MochaUson ! Laki ng tax ko, sa lecheng babae na yan lang napupunta!” netizen @juvyclaireenrile said.

Another netizen also reported blogger Andrew Olivar who criticized Vice President Leni Robredo in one of his videos.

Twitter user @UrM12 also showed to Trillanes the comments of some netizens against Frankie Pangilinan, Sharon Cuneta, Senators Kiko Pangilinan, and Risa Hontiveros.

Two months ago, Trillanes posts bail for conspiracy to commit sedition case before the Pasay courts due to his statements and speeches against President Rodrigo Duterte.

Trillanes called the case political persecution led by the Duterte administration to silence its critics.

“This latest absurd case is but another proof that the Duterte administration continues to weaponize the law against the political opposition, critics, and the media,” Trillanes said in February.
