Hindi madaling mahahawa ng virus! Villar urges government to allow construction, agriculture workers to work

Senator Cynthia Villar urged the government to allow the daily wage earners, including the people working for the agriculture and construction sector to continue their jobs as soon as possible.

In an interview with DZMM, daily wage earners couldn’t do their job at home that’s why they’re the most affected by the enhanced community quarantine implemented by the government.

“Tayo, we can afford to work from home. But the daily wage earners, wala namang online. In the meantime, wala silang kita. Hindi sila kakain. ‘Yong ibinibigay ng gobyerno ay hindi enough,” she said.

According to her, people should not worry because studies already found that COVID-19 cannot survive from being exposed too long in sunlight.

Villar pointed out that most of the construction workers and agricultural workers are most exposed to sunlight while doing their job.

The construction sector accounts for 10 percent of the labor force in the country. There is an estimated 3.9-M construction worker in the country according to the most recent data.

“May findings kasi na at 27 degree Celsius, namamatay ang virus. So ‘yong mga constructions workers, agricultural workers na nasa labas, mahirap na rin sila magkaroon ng contamination kasi hindi nage-e-stay ang virus sa mainit na lugar,” Villar said.

The Senator may be referring to the study of the scientists from the US, saying that COVID-19 destroys the fastest when it is exposed to direct sunlight.

Villar’s statement raised the eyebrows of some netizens on Twitter.

Just when you thought Cynthia Villar was low. she can go lower,” one netizen tweeted.

Meanwhile, the lady senator also decided not to attend Senate sessions to protect herself and her billionaire husband, Manny Villar from being infected by COVID-19.

“I can take the risk, but Manny cannot. He is managing a very big organization with thousands of employees and workers. The companies need him because of a predicted economic recession,” the senator said.
