A netizen expressed his disappointment over the tweet of a male journalist who entered a female restroom.
On a tweet, journalist Dano Tingcungco reported that there are no conjugal cubicles in a female restroom located at Binan Stadium, but noticed that there’s a urinal for male.
Harold Tan is one of the netizens who criticized the said journalist, questioning why he decided to enter a female restroom and highlighting the said urinal.
On a Facebook post, Tan explained that the urinal inside the female restroom was intended for kids because their mothers cannot assist them inside the male restroom.
According to him, the act committed by Tingcungco lowered his network’s credibility.
“What was Dano Tingcungco doing in a ladies’ restroom? Was he highlighting the urinal inside the same restroom? Hasn’t he heard of mothers who bring their very young boys to the ladies’ room to tinkle, because mothers can’t go to the men’s room to accompany their very young sons?” Tan said.
“GMA News took down the tweet. Fault-finding and ignorance lower a reporter’s reputation. If it chooses to feature the ignorant fault-finding, it lowers the network’s credibility. That’s why I don’t watch or listen to GMA News anymore.” he added.
Meanwhile, Tingcungco explained the story behind the photo, saying that the female restroom he entered used to be a male restroom.
“Part of my coverage yesterday on the PHL Malditas’ opening match vs Myanmar was to see the facilities of our team’s homecourt, Binan Stadium. Binan had a clean, organized area for spectators and media, and also well-appointed restrooms.” Tingcungco said.

“One of the features of the female restroom there was a urinal. Organizers told me that it used to be an all-male restroom but the female restroom was added there because of additional bleachers in the stadium and that the urinal was part of the original men’s restroom,” he added.
“That wasn’t taken out. This morning, event organizer Ariel Serrantes told me they couldn’t remove the urinal before the matches started but instead of covering it, they will repurpose it for toddlers to use,” he also said.
