Congressman Erice describes how difficult VP Leni’s job right now: “Hindi kaya ng isang ordinary mortal dahil napaka-bigat”

Liberal Party stalwart Caloocan City 2nd District Rep. Edgar Erice expressed his concern over the future health of Vice President Leni Robredo after the latter accepted a new position in the government as co-chair of the Interagency Committee on Illegal Drugs (ICAD).

In an interview with DZRH, Erice said that the role accepted by Robredo cannot be handled by such a normal person because of the difficulty of the said position.

“Itong desisyon na ito ay parang hindi kaya ng isang ordinary mortal dahil napaka-bigat,” said Erice.

One of Erice’s concerns also is the role of the Vice President in ICAD which consisted of 20 members and being led by PDEA Chief Aaron Aquino.

According to him the other members of the ICAD already have roles and sufficient resources to perform their job.

“Lahat sila may resources. Lahat sila may network at may definite na katungkulan, yung scope of work alam nila. Sa tinanggap na posisyon ni Vice President Leni, hanggang sa ngayon hindi pa maliwanag kung ano ang papel niya,” Erice said.

“Hindi natin alam kung sino ba ang masusunod dito sa ICAD o papaano yung decision making-process sa ICAD,” he added.

Despite the difference between President Rodrigo Duterte and Vice President Leni Robredo’s approach in enforcing the law, Erice is hoping that the members of the ICAD still support the latter.

We hope and pray na maraming mga miyembro ng ICAD ay supportahan din si Vice President Leni. Dapat burahin natin yung mga pagduda, at magsimula tayo sa zero,” Erice said.

A few days ago, Erice stated that Robredo will not be an “effective” head of the ICAD.

“I don’t think she has the experience, the knowledge (in leading the campaign),” Erice said.

“Kung tatanggapin niya yun, para siyang lalangoy sa isang dagat na puno ng pating.” he added.
