Majority leader of Manila proclaims 2020 budget under Isko as the “most balanced” budget in his political career

The Majority leader of the City Government of Manila admitted that it’s his first time during his decade of political career to see a Mayor like Isko Moreno who made a very balanced budget.

Manila Councilor Atty. Joel Chua said that the Manila budget proposed by Moreno for 2020 is not only about infrastructure,

“Sa akin pong ika apat na termino na bilang konsehal, ngayon lang ako nakakita ng napakabalanseng budget, nasabi ko na napakabalanse dahil hindi lang puro imprastraktura ang budget kung ikukumpara mo sa mga nakaraan,” he said.

According to him, this is his first time to see a very huge social amelioration budget that almost reached P2-B.

He then stated that because of the said budget, the hospitals are now going to be taken care well in the future.

“Yung mga kakulangan sa pasilidad, kakulangan sa gamot, sira na mga medical equipment maaayos na,” he said.

On Thursday, Moreno signed the Ordinance No. 8585 creating the 2020 executive budget amounting to P17,857,086,146.

Compared to the 2019 budget with the only P14,862,263,289, the 2020 executive budget represented an increase of P2,994,822,857.

The highest allocation would be the Social Services of the city government amounting to P8,529,942,113, almost half of the total budget of Manila.

A total of P1,818,785,300 would be allocated for the city government’s social amelioration program which has 301,092 beneficiaries.

Moreno signed the said ordinance together with Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna and members of the City council.

The City Council said that the ordinance has the biggest budget and fastest to be passed in the history of Manila.
