Isko Moreno wants to revive Marcos era Kadiwa stores to sell cheap basic goods around Manila

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno wanted to revive another program introduced during former President Ferdinand Marcos term.

Isko bared the plan to revive “Kadiwa” mobile stores aside from bringing back Nutribun as part of his program to help the poor to survive Manila City.

Moreno said that he’s also planning to make Kadiwa as the claiming center for people who surrendered enough trash to the City of Manila as part of his “Pagkain sa Basura” program.

Kadiwa was first introduced in the 1970s by former President Ferdinand Marcos and his wife Imelda Marcos.

The revival of Kadiwa was first proposed by former Senator Bongbong Marcos and now also being pushed by his sister Imee Marcos who’s now in the Senate.

Kadiwa during the Marcos era was traveling around poor areas to sell goods like meat, fish, vegetables and other basic needs that are cheaper than any other market.

The said program eliminated the middlemen so the people could buy directly to the farmers which almost the same with TienDA Malasakit outlets that introduced during the Duterte administration.

Senator Imee Marcos suggested that aside from foods, Kadiwa should also sell school supplies for students.
