Basilan TESDA director caught for possession of explosives

The authorities have caught the Provincial Director of Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in Basilan for possessing an IED and materials for making explosives Tuesday.

In the report from CIDG Region 9, the authorities who are carrying a search warrant found the dangerous materials, such as electronic blasting cap and ammunition at Provincial Director Muida Hataman’s house in Barangay San Rafael, Isabela City, Basilan.

They immediately investigated Hataman when they found that she’s a wife of one of the sub-commanders of Abu Sayaff identified as Radzmir Janatul.

TESDA released a statement saying that they would not tolerate such acts.

“For the information of the public, Hataman was hired as Supervising Technical Education and Skills Development (TESD) Specialist in July 2012 and was promoted as Director III in August 2013. She has been assigned in Basilan since then as Provincial Director.” TESDA Secretary Sid Lapena said.

“The agency is saddened by this incident, mindful that this may send the wrong messages to the sector that we serve. However, I will not tolerate any wrongdoings and rest assured that TESDA will cooperate in the investigation,” he added.

Hataman would be quickly removed from his position as Provincial Director.

Malacanang is not yet giving a statement over what happened to Hataman.
