National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) director Major General Guillermo Eleazar won’t apologize for the disciplinary action he did against the cop who got caught committing extortion on Tuesday night.
In a radio interview with DZBB, Eleazar said that Police Corporal Marlo Siblao Quibete deserved what he experienced from him and he won’t apologize to him and to the other cops who are doing bad activities.
Eleazar also asked the public to understand that he only burst in anger because he’s the head of NCRPO and it’s his responsibility to discipline the cops under him.
Quibete who was stationed at the Eastern Police District asked money to his victim with a total of P80,000 pesos.
Eleazar became viral after he confronted Quibete personally and pulled the suspect’s hair and t-shirt several times, however, the NCRPO top cop denied that he’s hurting the policeman.
‘Yung dinuro, siguro dinuro. He deserves that,” he said earlier.
Eleazar gained support from President Rodrigo Duterte and Police General Oscar Albayalde saying that the NCRPO Chief only did what’s right.
Albayalde said that he might do worse if he’s in the current position of Eleazar.
“Baka hindi lang ganoon ang nangyari. Talagang kung minsan talaga, even when I was the regional director ng NCRPO, talagang sa init ng ulo, dahil sa sama ng loob mo rin, na bakit meron pang ganyan, [this happens],” Albayalde said in a television interview.
Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año also expressed his support to Eleazar’s action.
“I personally support Police Major General Guillermo Eleazar in his drive to rid the NCRPO of ‘kotong cops.’ His action yesterday was simply a manifestation of his frustration over police scalawags in his unit who continue to tarnish the image of the entire Philippine National Police (PNP),” Año said in a statement.
He also understands that Eleazar is only acting like a father to the cops under him.
“It was a classic case of a ‘father losing his cool over his son’s misbehavior’ with the goal of correcting it and sending a message to his other children that bad behavior will not be tolerated in his household,” Año said.
