“Natakot?” Police chooses to resign as a cop than being assign to Mindanao

A cop from Police Regional Office (Central Visayas) chose to lose his job forever than being assign to Mindanao.

On February 1, Police Officer (PO3) Karl Belandres Osorio resigned from the Philippine National Police (PNP) after he was informed that he’s part of the augmentation force consisted of 300 cops in Lanao Del Norte that will guard the safety of the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) plebiscite.

The news was confirmed by PRO-7 Director Debold Sinas on February 6, saying that he quickly approved the resignation than insisting the cop to be assigned to Mindanao.

According to Sinas, he didn’t hesitate to accept the resignation of Osorio because he already saw that the latter already not willing to obey the orders of the PNP.

“We conducted an accounting of our troops’ movement, he refused to join,” Sinas said.

“We have to remind our policemen that this is part of our job. We assured our police in PRO-7 to give them updates of their colleagues,” he added.

Sinas also said that what Osorio did has affected the morale of his other personnel.

Despite what Osorio did, Sinas still gave the benefits of the cop like his unused leave credits.

Osorio, a native of Dalaguete, Cebu, is a member of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion – Central Visayas.

Despite some troubles happened before the referendum in Lanao Del Norte, the team where Osorio was supposedly part of, were safe and conducted their mission very well.

PRO-7 didn’t disclose the reason why Osorio doesn’t want to set his foot to Mindanao.

During the Duterte administration, deployment to Mindanao is considered a punishment for some cops.

He even sent 200 errant police officers to ARMM which considered as one one of the dangerous areas in Mindanao.
