Bato Dela Rosa questions why ‘Ang Probinsiyano’ now portrays cops as bad, rebels as good

Former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa was curious why the ABS-CBN’s hit show ‘Ang Probinsiyano’ suddenly changed their portrayal to cops.

Dela Rosa, who showed his support to the said TV Program during his leadership in the PNP is also now of the government officials who are asking the same question, why the plot suddenly changed and the said organization are now being portrayed as full of bad people.

He also complained about why ‘Ang Probinsiyano’ suddenly making a good portrayal to the fictional rebel ‘Vendetta’ which in real life is like the New People’s Army (NPA).

“Nagtataka ako sa ‘Probinsyano’, bakit noong panahon na ako ang chief PNP, ang gaganda naman ng portrayal nila sa buhay ng pulis? Sinusundan nila ‘yung ating mga accomplishment sa war on drugs, ‘yung mga pangyayari,” Bato said in an interview with PTV.

“Bakit ngayon ginawa na nilang sindikato ‘yung chief PNP? Ang sikat ngayon sa palabas nila, ‘yung mga [New People’s Army],” he added.

It’s known that Bato supported the said TV show and even Coco Martin itself the leading actor of ‘Ang Probinsiyano’ boasted it to the media while defending his program against the accusations of Chief Oscar Albayalde, the new head of PNP.

“Sabi ko nga sa simula’t simula ay sila ang gumabay, sumuporta sa amin sa pagbuo ng ‘Ang Probinsyano,’ siguro nagkataon lang na hindi nagkaroon ng pag-uusap, siguro kasi lalo na ngayong tumatakbo na halos tatlong taon na mahigit tumatakbo ang ‘Probinsyano,’” Coco Martin said telling the media on how Ex-Chief Bato helped them.

Even Bato in 2016 praised ‘Ang Probinsiyano’ for boosting the image of the PNP.

“Maganda ang ginagawa niyo sa ‘Ang Probinsyano.’ Bumabalik ang kumpiyansa ng mga tao sa mga pulis,” Dela Rosa said.

Before, the leading actor Coco Martin is portraying Ricardo Dalisay an honest cop who wants to fight corruption, but as the story goes, he became part of the rebel group called ‘Vendetta.’

Last week, PNP chief Oscar Albayalde criticizes the said show, saying that the image of the cops was badly affected by its current plot.

As a response to the bad portrayal of ‘Ang Probinsiyano’ PNP decided to withdraw all of their support to the said show like using their facilities and vehicles from producing a scene.
