Daughter of the former Bureau of Customs (BOC) Commissioner Isidro Lapeña posted a social media message to defend her dad from the accusations amid the 6.8-B ‘shabu’ scandal.

Mary Elizabeth Lapeña on her social media post said that she’s rarely posting about her dad, but because of the tremendous amount of accusations and criticisms received by the former customs chief, she decided to express her feelings to everyone.

In her post, Lapeña narrated how her father served the country as a uniformed personnel for more than three decades in exchange for not seeing his family too often because of his job.

After 9 years of retirement, her father decided to serve the country again under the Duterte administration under the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) to fight the proliferation of narcotics in the country, and then he became a Customs commissioner to fight smuggling.

Lapeña claimed that when her father became the customs chief, she was already aware that some people wanted to discredit her dad because their corrupt practices were already affected.

She also narrated that when her father left the U.S for two days, Customs Deputy Collector Lourdes Mangaoang started to talk to the media and started to accuse the BOC commissioner of defending the narcotic trade under his leadership.

Lapeña believes that Mangaoang took the leave of the BOC commissioner as an opportunity to accuse the latter and destroy his reputation.

Because of this, Lapeña believes that her dad was defenseless while Mangaoang enjoying the media mileage that she’s receiving.

Elizabeth also suspected that Magaoang tried to destroy the reputation of Lapeña because she couldn’t get the position she wants

The daughter of the BOC chief also posted the medals gained by Lapeña during his career as a uniformed personnel to prove that her father served the country well.

You can read her whole post below:

I rarely post about my dad, news about him etc. but tonight I just want to vent it all out. So that the Filipino people whom he fondly serves may know a little more about him before they throw their judgments.

I am truly heartbroken, my dad served this country as a uniformed personnel for 34 years having little time to almost none for us and after 9 years of retirement he wholeheartedly served again. First in PDEA and then in BOC. He was battling different syndicates from dr*g syndicates to sumgglers, etc.

From my knowledge, even before this issue errupted there is already a fund set-up to discredit him leading to his removal from BOC. This only means that he was already affecting their trade. Come Oct 16 may dad left for the US for the 91st birthday of my Lola. Only to find out 2 days after he left, this person, Lourdes made a media blowout when he was not here to be able to defend himself against these nonsense accusations. They made a spectacle about this when he was gone. To the point that almost everyone was only able to hear her side of story, repeatedly, that everyone was made to believe this was the truth. Also, she never disclosed during her interviews that she was reshuffled, not getting the position she wanted, thus the rage. People believed her because she delivers her stories with rage and she indeed is a lawyer being able to use this logical fallacy “appeal to emotion” where she was able to manipulate the recipient’s emotion to be able to win an argument and Filipinos are very emotional. They let their emotions overule their judgement, hence, my dad in their view is the “bad cop”.

My only prayer, even from the beginning was, that God lead him towards what’s best for him and where he can be safe. Maybe, this is the answer to my prayers. Maybe, this is for the best. That God is only protecting him from what may harm his health and his life.

As of writing, the post of Lapeña reached thousands of reactions from the netizens saying that only the supporters of the opposition would believe Mangaoang.

Several days ago, Magaoang accused Customs Commissioner Isidro Lapeña of ignoring her report that the x-ray machines detected illegal narcotics inside two magnetic lifters that were eventually found empty in Cavite province in August.

However, some people believe that Magaoang is only trying to destroy the reputation of Lapeña.

Mon Tulfo in a series of Facebook posts this week said that Magaoang was having close ties with a former police officer named by President Rodrigo Duterte as one of the narcogenerals protecting narcotic trade in the Philippines.

“Ang nasabing mayor ay dating general ng Philippine National Police. Si Mangaoang diumano ang nagpapalusot ng shabu shipment noong siya’y chief pa ng x-ray unit ng Bureau of Customs,” Tulfo said in one of his Facebook posts.
