Dela Salle University President and Former Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Brother Armin Luistro held a prayer during a press conference of Tindig Pilipinas, led by Senator Antonio Trillanes IV at the Senate Building on September 18.
However, the prayer of Luistro became controversial as he mixed his prayers with criticisms against President Rodrigo Duterte who nullified the amnesty received by Trillanes in 2011.
At first, Luistro asked God to help them to recover after Typhoon Ompong affected hundreds of thousands of families in Northern Luzon.
He also asked God why he let them suffer during the Typhoon and also giving them the President that they didn’t like.
“Diyos ko, Diyos ko, bakit mo kami pinabayaan? Sa aming pinag dadaanan kami’y nag mimistulang buang,” Lusitro said.
He prayed for the alleged drug addicts who got killed during the war against illegal drugs.
“Dalawampung libo higit pa ang pinaslang at tinokhang, ni walang nag lalamay dagdag sa bilang, tinuturing na mga salot at walang pakinabang,” he said.
Luistro prayed for the people who suffered because of the economic changes during the Duterte administration, saying that the basic good prices are continuously increasing.
“Diyos ng kasaysayan, ito ba ang aming kapalaran, natutulog ka pa ba at nag bibingi bingihan?” Luistro lamented.
“Kailan ka bababa mula sa kalangitan?” he added
In his prayers, Luistro mentioned the case of the key members of the opposition who allegedly harassed by the current administration, including Senator Leila De Lima who’s detained for being involved in illegal drugs and Senator Antonio Trillanes IV.
He urged God in his prayers to express his presence and not tolerate the bad deeds of President Rodrigo Duterte.
After the prayers, Senator Antonio Trillanes announced that Tindig Pilipinas is going to show their full force on September 21.
He also boasted that Tindig Pilipinas has consisted of 100 groups which all didn’t like the policies of the administration.
